Why You Need a Health Doctor

Why you need a Health Doctor, Natural Cure Doctor, Costa Mesa, Orange County, California, Dr. Robert Janda, Chiropractor, Natural Healing, Traditional Naturopath, Naturopathic Healing.

Everyone needs a chiropractor in their life whether they know it or not. We all recognize we need to go to the right doctor to solve a particular problem. The thing most people do not recognize is that Medicine, as it is practiced today, is a specialty that is primarily concerned with disease, not health. We all know that if you have a frank disease like diabetes, broken bones, acute infections,  or cancer you need a medical doctor. However, fighting disease does not necessarily use the same information as preventing disease. Disease prevention is an entire field of knowledge by itself. It is only since the 1960s that this country has slowly been growing a health movement leading to ‘alternative medicine’, health food stores, the creation of new professions like Oriental Medicine Doctor, the establishment of the Government Office of Complementary Medicine and a growing public interest in ‘Health Medicine”.

Historically, Chiropractic has been the main alternative profession in the United States fighting for and promoting heath. Health and Disease are at opposite ends of a continuum. Disease usually occurs as the result of long deterioration of our physiology. It is foolhardy to focus only on the last stage of deterioration when there is so much that can be done on the way there. There has been an entire industry that has mushroomed in the US promoting disease fighting strategies, mainly drugs and surgery. These are essential but very limited tools. Most drugs, unless you have a frank disease, are not good for you and will prevent optimum health. The US is ranked 37th in the world in health by the World Health Organization.  This tell us that there is something wrong with what we are doing. Note that President Clinton had a heart attack. Any doctor would be honored to help him, yet he picked a doctor that did not know how to prevent heart attacks! Michael Jackson, killed by his medical doctor just trying to give him a night’s sleep. We don’t seem to notice the fallacy of this drug approach to health unless someone dies. With drugs we are fighting disease, not building health. Our country is currently preoccupied with the wrong models to build a healthy nation. For this reason our health costs are skyrocketing and our results are poor.

More money per person is spent on health care in the United States than in any other nation in the world,[6][7] and a greater percentage of total income in the nation is spent on health care in the U.S. than in any United Nations member state except for East Timor.[7] Despite the fact that not all citizens are covered, the United States has the third highest public healthcare expenditure per capita.[8][9] Medical debt is the principal cause of personal bankruptcy in the United States.[10]

I hope these statistics convince you of a need for more emphasis on health in the American health care system. Chiropractors represent health. We are here to help.
